About Mt. Gretna

Introducing Mt. Gretna, PA . . .A Great Place to Live!

I'd like to introduce you to Mt. Gretna. It's a great place to live! I have sold many Gretna homes, several more than once. Gretna is an interesting and diverse place with over a century of fascinating history, small enough to afford an old-fashioned sense of community.

There are fewer than 700 boxes at the post office where neighbors exchange news every day. A census of Mt. Gretna is impossible because the tiny community lies in four intersecting municipalities: Mt. Gretna Borough (same boundaries as Chautauqua), West Cornwall Township (Gretna Heightsand the Campmeeting), South Londonderry Township (Conewago Hills, Timber Hills and Lake Conewago), and South Annville Township.

Each section has its own character, reflected in the style of its homes. Home buyers encounter a wonderful selection, from the historic to modern, from modest to grandiose. Some of the homes are "cottages," mainly in theCampmeetingandChautauqua, occupied only in summer by visitors from all points in the eastern U.S.

Mt. Gretna is a perfect place for home buyers wanting the safety and comfort of "exurbia" and the advantages of urban or suburban life. Community services - - snow removal, trash collection, fire protection and others - - rival those of any suburb. Four hospitals (university, community, VA and psychiatric) lie within 20 minutes. Good schools are a short bus ride away. Surrounding cities of Lebanon, Hershey, Lancaster and Harrisburg, all within thirty minutes or less, offer Multiplex Cinemas, Borders Books, farmer's markets and all other amenities of city living. Those who appreciate the opera, major-league sports or Saks Fifth Avenue can take a day trip to Philadelphia, New York or Baltimore.

In short, this unique community has something for everyone!
